5,6,7,8 Beverly Hills what a thrill!

Did you love the 1989 film “Troop Beverly Hills”? ME TOO! I’ve may or may not have watched Troop Beverly Hills upwards of 1,000 times. It is a great late 80’s early 90’s time capsule. Anytime when I’m feeling down I will watch this movie and smile.

Shelley Long (Phyllis Nefler) is just hilarious! The fashion is also reason enough to watch it! Should we bring back shoulder pads? I think so too! I used to day dream that one day I’d get to go on a shopping spree with Phyllis Nefler. She certainly knows her way around Rodeo Drive, and can identify a well-cut diamond with expertise. Remember, the scene when Phyllis was trying on the beaded dress and said "You know, it's missing a bead." The best!

Anyway, let’s jump right into this post, because it’s a goodie. In Toronto, we may not have Rodeo Drive but we do have Bloor-Yorkville and Yorkville Village!

Bloor St. between Yonge Street and Avenue Road in Yorkville is called Mink Mile. It is the most prestigious shopping street in all of Canada. It is a celebration of the very best fashion, food, wellness and culture. I love strolling up and down the boulevard and wide, pedestrian friendly sidewalks - perfect for window shopping. Even through most designers are out of my budget, it is always fun to dream, be inspired, and maybe find a small trinket!

One of my favourite places is the Holt Renfew Centre located on Bloor St. between the Bay St. & Yonge St. It is fun to walk around the concourse level and browse through the shops and visit the luxury department store Holt Renfew and grab a little snack at Holts Café and people watch. Unfortunately, it is temporarily closed due to COVID-19. Can’t wait to go back when the Ontario lock-down is over!!!!

Toronto-based luxury retailer Holt Renfrew recently unveiled their completed renovations of its 190,000-square-foot flagship store. It now features a new facade as well as 12 main floor concessions for fashion, accessory and jewellery brands. It’s all part of the Mink Mile flagship’s multi-year transformation that now includes a luxury boutique hall similar to leading department stores in Europe and Asia. Boutiques for Prada, David Yurman, Balenciaga, Burberry, and Bulgari also opened, and were joined by Miu Miu and Bottega Veneta in January of 2020.

Next up on this little tour of Toronto’s version of Rodeo Drive.

Sidetone: Writing this blog post makes me feel like I’m a tour guide on the Toronto: Hop-On Hop-Off Sightseeing tours hehe! Which I wanted to work for them but couldn’t because I don’t have enough experience, so I’m living my best life writing this post! Anywhos, back to the tour.

Back to the tour, Yorkville Village is a to-do must! You will discover an entirely new shopping, dining and lifestyle experience in the heart of Bloor-Yorkville. The cobble stones streets makes you feel like you are on a mini vaca in the city, with great photo ops for your insta feeds. While you walk around and visit all the local unique shops, take some time for lunch at FLO’s Diner! (70 Yorkville Ave) their Patio is fantastic! Because, Flo’s is located on the second floor and their patio is great for overlooking Yorkville Avenue and people watching! The food is fabulous - 50’s style dinner with all-day breakfast, burgers, hot dogs, and of course grill-cheese!

Be sure to save room in your tummy for some dessert - stroll over to Summer’s Ice Cream that is family owned who make local made delicious ice cream. It is a perfect spot to enjoy the sites and rest your feet after a full day exploring and shopping.

Writing this post was so much fun to write, especially during these times with Ontario still in lockdown. It was wonderful to go back to the good old times where we can go for walks, shop and enjoy the local restaurants and shops. Hopefully soon we will be able to stroll and enjoy the beautiful neighbourhood of Bloor-Yorkville and Yorkville Village

Being Unique is always Fabulous!
